"Having been born on 4th July, I have been the Vice President for over 12 years of an Association that facilitates the 383-year-old relationship the Honourable Artillery Company has with its daughter regiment in the the USA, the Ancient & Honourable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
Both companies were invited to participate in a major event as part of the Plymouth 400th Anniversary Celebrations, over 220 members of the HAC signed up for this visit, to be based in Boston, MA.
Bon Voyage advised and assisted on the contractual aspects of the hotel reservations, and we recognised our good fortune in making this choice when Covid-19 caused the cancellation of the visit.
The unprecedented nature of the pandemic presented a major challenge in recovering the substantial deposits, but it was a challenge to which Bon Voyage rose and exceeded our expectations.
As an experienced in-house lawyer I advised not resorting to lawyers and took the view that we should work with Bon Voyage in negotiations with the hotel's owners. Despite the pressure of the lockdowns both in the UK and USA, a highly successful result was achieved. When the final remittance was mislaid by the US banking system Bon Voyage stepped in to enable us to expedite the repayment to all our members. Reputational damage was avoided and all our members were delighted."
J.J.A.Cowdry - Vice President of the H.A.C. Boston Association.
